Family Photos Today

Do you remember taking family photos as a kid?  I do.  Every few years (no, we weren’t a “yearly photo” kind of a family) my parents would make us dress in our Sunday best and haul us into a department store photo studio.  There were six of us, sometimes more if we had an exchange student or  a teenager who needed a safe place to land living with us.  The studio staff would look slightly overwhelmed, but manage to squeeze us onto the backdrop…..just barely.  We would then endure twenty minutes of trying to get everyone to look at the camera and being blinded by the flash.
A few weeks later my mom would pick up the proofs and go through the process of choosing the one pose where no one’s eyes were closed and the fewest number of us were making faces that betrayed our discomfort at being squished together like sardines.   No wonder we only did that every few years!
Thank goodness the digital age, together with changing ideas about family photography, has given us other options.  Family photos these days are so accessible, relaxed and beautiful.  And so much fun to shoot!Cabesh Photography, Lansdale, PA Family PhotographerCabesh Photography, Lansdale, PA Family PhotographerCabesh Photography, Lansdale, PA Family Photographer

Pool Time

We’re down to nine days of school left here.  I can’t wait.  We love school, but we also love being chill and doing our own thing over the summer.
One of our favorite things to do is swim.  We don’t have a pool, but we’re fortunate to have several generous friends who invite us over to cool off in their pools.  Ahhh, summer!

Wedding Shoot in Alexandria, VA

We didn’t have a wedding photographer.  We were young and poor (and still in college) when we got married and it just wasn’t in my budget.  Add that to a little miscommunication, and well…..it just didn’t happen.

I did have an amazing roommate who came and took snapshots for us on my old 35mm Pentax.  I am so grateful that I have those pictures.  Just imagine, as recently as 150 years ago most people didn’t have wedding photos at all.  How sad!

All of that made me extra excited to take these photos.Cabesh Photography, Lansdale, PA Family PhotographerCabesh Photography, Lansdale, PA Family Photographer

I like how you off-centered the kissing pose – it makes it much more visually interesting. Especially with that light above. Dang my tunnel vision!
